CHALLENGE
As a part of my capstone project at Carnegie Mellon, Canon USA, provided us with a problem statement to identify a product (either currently or a failed to make it to market) targeting Gen Z, our aim was to craft a product along with a service that resonates with the Gen Z, blending Canon's technological expertise with fresh, market-driven innovations.
OVERVIEW
Motivated by the desire for a more personal & tangible connection, we reimagined a device that enables users to easily share personalized messages, photos, & memories with their loved ones, regardless of how far they are. By bridging the gap between the digital and physical worlds, Canon IVY Mail is trying to change how we usually communicate. Merging technology with nostalgia, we aimed to create a contemporary version of sharing memories through postcards.
DISCOVER
We conducted a thorough analysis of existing imaging products to establish a solid foundation for our product and/or service. We identified and examined user personas, and conducting user interviews, to better understand their motivations and pain points.
KEY PRODUCT OBJECTIVES
Core Innovation:
The innovation is in the form of developments to existing products or services that Canon currently offers, improving what is currently offered.

No Cannibalization:
The new product should not compete with Canon’s existing product line or potentially take up their market share.

Financial Viability:
Since the product is marketed towards Gen Z, it must provide something they value and is priced within their affordance range.

Go-To-Market Timeline:
Incorporate technology that is feasible to be developed and launched within the next 1 - 2 years.
